Prime Movers Blues Band “Two Trains Running” w/ Iggy Pop

merlewine asked:

The Prime Movers Blues Band formed in the summer of 1965 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This audio track is from fairly early on, a gig at the Schwaben Inn and Jim Osterberg (AKA Iggy Pop) is definitely the drummer on this track. This video is a tribute to Dan Erlewine, lead guitar player for the Prime Movers Blues Band. Subsequent to the Prime Movers Dan played lead guitar for the Sam Lay Blues Band and was considering playing guitar with the Butterfield band, when he decided he really wanted to build some guitars.

The main band members included:

Michael Erlewine
lead Singer, harmonica

Daniel Erlewine
lead guitar

Robert Sheff (keyboards)
AKA Blue ‘Gene’ Tyranny

Jack Dawson (bass)

James Osterberg (drums)
AKA “Iggy Pop”
Or
J.C. “Jesse” Crawford (drums)

I knew your dad and had been to his country place. He was very cool.

    Thanks,

    Michael Erlewine

I spent my youth in Ann Arbor, which is where the picture of Ig and that other cat walking down the sstreet was taken. State street, and my dad’s jewelry store is (was) behind them, just down the street from the theatre. You can almost make out the “Lakes Art Shoppe” sign, but not quite. Herb David’s guitar studio was right above dad’s store, and I spent a lot of time there. Iggy crashed in, I think, the record store above the shop for a while. It was a fucking great way to spend a youth. Peace.

Nice stuff, keep ‘em coming as long as there’s stuff. especially nice are the juxtapositions between the old pictures and how folks are doing now.
